How to play Cat Sudoku

  1. Place exactly one cat in each row.
  2. Place exactly one cat in each column and each numbered colored region.
  3. Cats cannot touch in neighboring squares, including corners. More distant diagonals are allowed.

Controls

Choose Cat and tap to place or remove a cat. Choose × Mark to tap or drag across excluded squares; a drag is one undoable move. Right-click also marks ×. With a square focused, use arrow keys to move, C to toggle a cat, X to toggle a mark, or Enter / Space to use the selected tool.

Show excluded squares is an optional visual aid: dotted squares are ruled out by the cats you placed. It does not change your hand-written marks. Undo restores a complete move. Restart clears this board and keeps its accumulated help counts and active time.

Help that explains the next step

Show a reason highlights a candidate or a set of excluded squares and explains the deduction. It does not place a cat. Some deductions have a “Mark these ×” action. Reveal a cat explicitly takes a position from the unique solution, or removes an incorrect cat. The two kinds of help are counted separately.

Levels and daily play

There are 24 original levels in each of the Beginner, Standard and Challenge paths. Difficulty is checked using deductions rather than board size alone. Mix this path rotates or reflects one of these boards. All levels have connected regions and exactly one solution.

The daily puzzle changes at midnight UTC. Completion records, active play time and streaks are local to this browser, and are not verified leaderboard results. Help counts appear in your spoiler-free shared result.
